My 9 mo.old cat' Cao, bites when we snuggle. He's purring the whole time so I think its meant to show affection. He fell asleep holding on to my face. Any idea why?

I think it is a sign of affection.. it's something kittens do to their mothers, and he probably carried that on to you. If it gets to the point where it hurts, just tell him no. He'll learn when it's too much for you

It looks like he is giving you a kiss! sweet! Mourek does the same thing to me, he sometimes starts by licking then he will bite gently. It's also the way he wakes me up in the morning (not biting quite as gently, hehe).
Our cat does that all the time. Esp in the morning when we first wake up . It is a sign of affection. That is his way of saying hey mom I love you, Thanks for all you do!
