I absolutely adore my cat Phyllis (pic attached). She's 3 years old and in a home of only one cat - her. I'm devastated because I'm looking for a new home for her. I am recently divorced and will have unstable living arrangements for the future and won't be able to keep her. She absolutely loves me - follows me around the house, purrs on my chest - and the feeling is mutual, which is why this is so hard. She has some major behavioral issues with people other than me. It seems like she only loves me. She is a generally anxious kitty, scared of people and loud noises, but she's also territorially aggressive with people. I want her to have a good long life and she's currently very anxious and nervous and unhappy with my living situation. She hisses and spits and cackles at people who come into my room. She also has some issues with fear-aggression if she feels trapped.
I know that taking her to a normal shelter would mean the end of her life and I've been trying for months to find a no-kill shelter with people who will give her love and support as she relearns how to behave. I want what's best for her and am now looking outside state lines (I would travel anywhere to know she'd be with the best people so that she could be adopted). I currently live in Denver, CO, but again, would do anything for her. She has so much love to give and I have hope that she could find a new home where she could be happy - sadly, it's not with me. Looking for support and options for my dear kitty.
