My cat is a Maine Coon mix (so i was told) and he has a sensitive tummy since he was a baby (he is 8 months old now) and USUALLY there is no issues since i switched his food to one with a pro biotic. However, from time to time he still gets random mushy poops and then they end up stuck  in his bum fur. I'm sure he doesn't want to clean himself after.. Do all long hair cats get this problem because of the long fur? Should i just try to keep his fur trimmed in that area?

Keeping his hind end trimmed is probably going to be your best bet. You have no way of predicting when he's going to have a less than great poo, and this way you won't have to worry about him not cleaning up if it happens while you're not home. We have a medium haired cat whose rear we keep trimmed. We've just found it's easier to head off a potential problem than to try and deal with a mat down there.
