Hello all,
So I'm technically not a first time cat owner/ sort of am. We've always had cats, my sisters and I, despite my mother's wishes. They came and went, as most were adopted strays. One of my sisters in particular would find them elsewhere and bring them home, treat them despite her money issues, and aid them in leading a life at home. As both sisters moved out my mom vowed no more pets! Since then, I've sneaked (well not sneaked they were, once again, against her wishes) bunnies, guinea pigs, and a plethora of hamsters from friends who no longer wanted them. As this cycle stopped I tucked away all cages and hutches, but longed for a free roaming companion as I entered college this past fall to ease me into things to counteract my severe anxiety.
Having watched my cousin adopt her new kitten, this longing grew. I pleaded with my mom, silent treatments, guilt trips ( felt bad about that..) etc. until on her way out the door to work, she yelled upstairs as I was waking up, "...and it has to be female and light colored so you cant see the hair on the carpet.." It was the greatest wakeup call I ever had.
In a nutshell I adopted Lola @ 6 weeks old, a glamorous calico. Over the past 5 months I cuddle her constantly and cater to her every need; every mew, every scratch at the door. I never let her feet touch the floor; in turn she has enriched my life with kisses and racing downstairs at the sound of my car pulling in. This is why her new bathroom symptoms terrify me.
For the past four days she has been having diarrhea with a green hue; it has been increasingly liquidy when she does try to go, and when she isn't shut up in my room (I just had to start doing this today) she drips it around the house- thank god for the ceramic. The most grotesque part is how she tries to clean herself up- it's only natural, but I cringe and try to distract her.
I called for an asap appointment to the vet; the best I could get was friday @ 1:45- I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can get tomorrow, or the earliest on friday. The woman said it's most likely worms, and they'll need a stool sample.
Has anyone's kitty ever had these symptoms? I'm so scared and am downright freaking out. Like all of you do with yours, I'd do anything for her. I don't know how I'm going to pull off this month's car insurance, but her health is paramount. If anyone has ever experienced this with their cat, I beg you to share your experience, every tidbit ):
A million thanks in advance..
