Find some horse stall freshener (Sweet PDZ) is what I use. Sprinkle a couple handfuls in the litter when you change it.
When I feed my cat Mazuri, his stuff will melt windows. Horse stall freshener pretty much wipes out the smell.

For the raw food comments above.
When I feed him raw chicken. There is NO odor at all.

Do you have just one litter box for both kittens? You should have one litter box per cat plus one, so you should really have three litter boxes. Just one box may be overwhelmed by too much waste in just the one box.

I too use Ever Clean (Ocean breeze up in here yo o/), but sometimes, with two kittens, it just doesn't cut the mustard. On those particularly stinky days, we mix baking soda into the litter itself. This helps to absorb and neutralise the bad smells, and it's non-toxic! (we checked with the vet, first!)
