A few of our cat toys have feathers on them--a chirpy bird, a teaser mouse on a rope/stick, etc. [I still do not understand fake mice with tail feathers, but that is another subject.] Melody will lick the feathers on the toys until they are soggy. She has done this regularly, it is nothing new. Just wondering what would make her do it?

Just because she likes them so much, they instinctively like feathers so much because they are prey and they smell like it. No harm at all until they tear them off and eat them. Cats eat many feathers when they catch and eat birds, and bones, but the colored/dyed ones on toys are not exactly healthy and could choke, so watch them!
