I know a lot of people here use the NOW brand of krill oil. I wondered if anybody has tried a different brand? I heard the Nature Made brand is milder in taste.
50 mg? Wow. Well, thanks for letting us know. I probably wouldn't be able to get 5 pumps into Poppy, she's very particular about her oils.yes, it's plastic, at least it appears to be. But so far it seems to always pump the same amount (except for the very first time), and it appears to be about the same amount that I am able to squeeze out of a NOW capsule. But it's only 50 mg per pump vs 250 in one NOW capsule, which is rather disappointing. But it's sure a lot more convenient
Where are you getting 250mg NOW capsules? I could only find 500mg. Right now I puncture the capsule, squeeze out about half, and then take the rest myself since I don't have other kitties. That's how I plan to evaluate the taste of the Nature Made I ordered - by first hand experience!yes, it's plastic, at least it appears to be. Ooops! My mistake. The NOW is 500 per capsule. I was thinking since a serving (for humans) was TWO, that 1 capsule was 250 mg (sorry, have been drugged up lots lately for migrainesWhere are you getting 250mg NOW capsules? I could only find 500mg. Thanks for the suggestions.Carolina was using krill oil caps that were hard. She used (uses?) a needle and pliers.
Thanks for letting us know. I get around the taste problem by splitting the dose across the three meals.
ETA: I remember reading someone posted that they use a thumbtack to puncture the capsule. Might be worth a try?
Trust me, pliers work! Thanks for the suggestions.
I think using pliers might make it hard for me to keep a grip on the capsules since they're small. I did try the thumbtack way once and didn't like it at all. I have a few knives with pointy ends that I favor.
I did mix up the two krill oils in Poppy's food, but there were no problems with her eating it. I'll report back if feeding problems develop - sometimes with Poppy she'll give things a try for 2-3 meals then decide "no."
