Hi guys,
I just love reading all the posts in here. I'm having a problem with my kittens and I'm hoping for some advice.
I have 4 kittens that are just over 5 weeks old. They are Tiger Lily, Paige, Snickers, and Effie. (Incidentally, Effie seems to have a lot of the same characteristics as a Ragdoll breed - goes limp when picked up (lets me carry her like a baby), larger than the others, and really soft fur like a bunny) The problem is, they have yet to learn how to use the litter box. In the last two days, they have peed wherever they wanted. I just caught Effie peeing in the corner, so I picked her up and brought her to the litterbox, but not without her peeing into my hand and being pretty much empty by the time I put her in the box.
I make sure to leave a few pieces of "stuff" in the box when I clean it so they know what it's for... Do I need more smaller boxes available? I tried to confine them to the laundry room (where the litter and food/water is) but there's no door, so I put up a makeshift wall that was too high for them to jump out of, but mommy jumped in, grabbed each of them by their necks, and jumped out. Of course after she did this the first time, I let them go free so she wouldn't hurt them.
My next step might be locking them in my bedroom, but I don't want them peeing on my bed. *sigh*
