Question--the KMR (as usual) has given my girl some diarrhea. Is that okay? She won't go to the litter box, but I don't really want her to lick it up, or for the kittens to get in it..
She ate 2 of 3, and I didn't let her lick it, I took that blanket away and wiped her with a towel. She seems to be done for now, so I hope it was just one episode, or that next time she decides to go to the litter box
She does seem fine now, I feel like it may have been a combination of all 3 (placentas, delivery, and KMR). I finally got her to give up the last piece of newspaper so now they're all settled with clean fresh bedding, and they seem content to sleep
Momma finally stepped out of her box and drank some water and stretched. She went back to her babies immediately and meowed until I put her food bowl right next to her head so she didn't have to get up to eat. (It was already in the box, just too far away I guess :lol3:
Momma came to my bed meowing this morning, led me back to her nest, looked at the three little angels (who were all cuddled together sleeping), then looked at me like, "Aren't they the cutest?" It was the funniest thing (except for where she woke me up at 5 in the morning
)
I just wanted to let everyone know that they have all gained incredible weight in their first day of life, all of them weighing in at LEAST 16 grams heavier! I can't believe they're growing so fast!
She really is, and it's absolutely adorable to watch.
Side note, for about how long should I weigh them every day? First few weeks, until they're weaned...? I don't want to miss any loss of weight, but I also know that there should be a point when I can stop weighing them every day (as they will eventually be independent and leaving to be with new families)
Here they are on day two! The littlest one (the dark one with her little tail sticking out) has almost caught up to the first born in weight, which really made me happy, and the little white one is still the biggest. Bastet is eating very well, and I intend to keep her bowl full until the kittens are completely weaned and in new homes (then we'll cut back to usual meal times).
And I was just making sure my chart was big enough; I'm relieved to say that it is
