Just a bit of advice really, I'm part of a rescue team and I've had Rueben since he was about 2 days old, I've hand reared him and he's the most loving and cuddly boy - when he first came to me he was completely black with very long hair - over the course of a few weeks I noticed his hair under the black was grey/blue - it's now a lot longer and the black is falling out, no longer long haired he is short haired and blue - I've had cats most my life and never come across this before - he's very healthy and been vet checked with no under lining issues - I'm stumped - any ideas??

Many thanks
Nicky

The last photo, where does it comes in the time serie?

Seeing just the last photo (and also the first photo) I would  say its a fever coat, this false point is typical.    Its not dangerous, it usually disapeears by itself with time.

Otherwise, they can change fur.

We had one case where a shorthair kitten got longhaired as adult.   We joked, we are modern people, we dont believe in trolls changing babies.  Thus, it must have been gypsies whom changed him out...     :)
