Hoping someone can help me...

It’s almost been a year since I bought home the baby (Echo). She’s grown some (definitely bigger)....but one thing still hasn’t changed.

When I got Echo from the shelter, she had her third eyelid showing prominently. There was also a black haze over the eye. Shelter had her on several antibiotics (to include eye drops) in the hopes it would clear up. My vet was fit to be tied when I first bought her in...like the shelter, she tried more antibiotics (hasn’t made any difference). She used a dye/artificial light (not sure what they call it) and was able to tell that the eye is functional (pupil responds to light) but not much else. Seemed to think that things would get better as she grows up. Well, she’s growing up but the eye issue hasn’t changed. The black haze isn’t as dark, but it’s still there...

To an outsider, Echo acts like a typical cat. But if one looks closer ~ they can see that the one eye isn’t normal. If they watch her closely, she tends to bop her head (moving up and down) while walking. When she jumps or is going up steps - it’s more like a hop. When running, there have been times where she couldn’t stop in time (face planting - doors and walls). Several family members/friends have expressed concern that Echo isn’t right from a neurological standpoint. Compared to Midnight at that age, big difference. Midnight acts like a normal cat but has her own issues (CHF and severe allergies that show up as fur loss). Got a hunch that Echo may have mild cerebellar hypoplasia.
Just wondering if the eye issues are related or could be related to CH (or am I dealing with two different problems).

My vet did run tests for feline leukemia as well as feline aids ~ both tests are negative.
Also mentioned that eye removal may be needed in the future (as long as Echo isn’t in pain...no tumors ~ I’m not consenting to eye removal surgery).

Both of my cats have their yearly check up in the coming weeks ~~ just trying to figure out if it’s worth asking about CH at the yearly visit.

Tried to attach a close up picture but my phone isn’t cooperating (...not the best pic - but the eye lid can be seen).

It certainly can't hurt to ask about CH. Just tell them what is happening and all your concerns and see if they can make a diagnosis. AND, about her eye, see if they'll recommend an animal opthimalogist. That might be your best bet there.

Keep us posted !

In addition to the eye specialist, if you have any vet training colleges in your area it would be worth checking to see if they would review her records.
