Little Bit had her first vaccines this past Tuesday at the clinic in our local pet shop. Vet told us some signs to look for, including vomitting, fever, swollen face, etc. (I have a list). She was totally fine till the wee late hours on Friday night, when we noticed her limping on back right leg, and she wanted to sleep more than normal. Her appetite was a little less that day (some days she eats voraciously, some days not so much).
She did still jump on furnish, and she DID eat, just not as much. Saturday came and same thing: limping on that leg, sleeping a LOT, half of what she normally eats on a good day --- but still a few periods of playing a bit, sort-of running, and jumping from furnish to furnish.
Did some poking around on the web and came across "limping kitten syndrome" in kittens after they have their first round of vaccines; specifically related to FCV. I decided since it was the weekend, to just let her rest, make sure she ate SOME, and make her comfy (which means she spent almost the entiire day/night sleeping on my lap). Most pieces I've read on this say that it works itself out after a few days. She *seems* a bit better today...but too early in the day for us to tell. She did just now eat 3/4 of a 3 ozs can of food all at once -- which is good for her.
Anyone ever experience this with their kittens? This is our first kitten that has not come already all vaxxed up, so we never had to deal with watching for any side effects. I knew to watch for certain things, but I was looking at things what would have happened closer to the vaccine day, not a few days out.
Sorry so long, but I like to give details so as to give a good picture of what's going on. I am now off to call the place that gave her the vaccine to ask some questions.
Kit's Mom now.
