He's about 3 months old, and he swatted one of the wall and ate it, should I take him to the vet?

Insects are generally healthy snacks for cats (even though cockroaches are kind of nasty)....unless you use a lot of bug spray, then there is a pesticide/chemical concern. No need to take the cat to the vet. If there is anything "wrong" with the roach, your kitty may vomit it back up. Otherwise, he should be fine. It's mainly protein and calcium.

My cats love to eat grasshoppers especially the big juicy ones. They also eat crickets.

I've tried to catch crickets in the backyard for my feral cat, but she's a much better huntress than I am. I haven't managed to catch any for her, but have seen her catch quite a few.

Do you (or and exterminator) spray for bugs? That's the only concern. Usually when roaches come in contact with pesticide they die almost immediately, so I'm thinking it probably wouldn't have been alive if it were poisoned.
