We just adopted Annie, and she is a GREAT kitten. Loves to cuddle with us, cuddle with her "big brother" a purebred Japanese bobtail, Thumper, and is so happy all of the time. I am curious what to call her color? She has orange, buff, black, grey, white-ish, and is tiger. Her hair is orange under the black, her buff has spots of bright orange, she appears silver in some areas. Her nose is half black, half orange, and buff at the tip. Her paw is buff with spots of orange. Her stripes are either black, orange, or black shaded with orange (you can see it in the 4th picture on her rear leg). Any opinions are appreciate! Thanks!

oops... see the post below for pictures. Not sure what happened!

Wow,  she is one gorgeous kitten!    I think she may be a Black Silver Mackerel Torbie.   ( Torbie = Tortoiseshell Tabby.)   Some of the photos look more like silver than others.   .Without silver,  the color would be called Brown Mackerel Torbie.

She's definitely got the combination of tortoiseshell coloring and a tabby pattern showing in both the red-based pigment and black -based pigment. This complex combination is called by different terms in different associations.   It's called "Patched Tabby" in CFA.   In some European registries it's called "Tortoiseshell Tabby" or "Tortie-Tabby."    In TICA it is   "Torbie" which of course is a contraction of Tortoiseshell Tabby.

Her base color is genetic Black ,  but  tabby cats with black base color are traditionally called "brown tabby" since they often have a lot of brownish color in the markings -- the agouti  hairs ( the lighter hairs in the tabby pattern)  are banded with a yellowish sort of color, which does often look brownish.  but can look more grey too. .  ( but the darkest fur  in a "brown tabby" would be black or very very nearly black)  .

But she may also have  the "Inhibitor Gene" that causes that agouti background color to be paler  - more white than yellow-ish/ tan .  With Silver in the mix they do just use the genetically more accurate term "black"  not brown.

She does look like she may be a longhair.    She really is beautiful.

And she looks very happy with your J-Bob!  So does he , for that matter! .   Congratulations!
