Literally. So far just one kitten has come into the world. I'll say he for now since that is my gut feeling but I am not positive.

He is 4 oz or 120 grams, and that is a pretty hefty newborn :)

Sara was difficult to get bred so I wouldn't be surprised if there are only one (or two). Next time she will hopefully understand what is going on and it will be simpler.

Little one is smoke coloured and feisty - he already purrs when he nurses.

He does look a bit bigger in this picture than he really is.

Hehe... she had him on my bed, under the covers. I didn't know she was in labour until I went looking for her. Bit of a mess to clean up, but I'm just so happy that it all went well for her first birth. She is an amazing mom.

Hehe cheeky girl. Always a sigh of relief when it's over. Still just the one kitten?

Hope she continues being a good mum

The flash really washes out her black - but she does seem lighter than other smoke babies I've had. Will be very interesting to see how she develops. She is used to me picking her up to weight and such, and this time was just too tired to even wake up.

Silvers are always hard to photograph, so I imagine smokes are too. Have never succeeded in not having one wake up on me

I don't think so.... but I am getting very attached. Since she was a single kitten she is very happy to hang out with me intsead of romping with littermates. I don't really need a smoke girl and I can repeat the breeding for a silver... sigh.

Singletons are very special. And well done to Sara, my singleton mums were not great - except one who ended up raising all.

Fingers crossed for the next mating. I'm deciding on a girl, with plenty of time to decide, wondering if I should try my luck of a silver version in a repeat mating  - given how evil the gene fairy tends to be
