Keyboard cats

Does your cat have a fascination with your laptop keyboard? Mine does. No matter which room my laptop is in, if I'm not in front of my laptop my cat will often ball up on the keyboard! One time he actually somehow managed to disconnect my internet connection by doing this!

I thought maybe he was seeking heat, so I brought a heating pad into my room (the room he's in most of the time). He likes to ball up on the heating pad, but if the laptop keyboard is accessible, he still prefers the laptop keyboard! So, most of the time I just try to make sure I watch him carefully around my laptop, but sometimes I miss it.

Any ideas why he has a keyboard obsession?

no idea it could just be your scent is strong there so he figures its a good place to sleep kinda like how cats like to sleep on dirty clothes

He wants you to get off the computer and pay more attention to him. My cats do it all the time. My Ash has done this since he was a tiny kitten. He will go under my laptop and push it off my lap.

Obviously, (to kitty) you're paying more attention to the keyboard than to kitty. It's unacceptable! He must lay on the keyboard to discourage this behaviour. The heat is a bonus.
