Last monday, I noticed that American Express was hiring. They are hiring through Kelly's services, which is a temp agency. I called them several times to make an appointment for an interview. They were busy and they suggested I fax a resume. So, my mother, who has a copy of my resume and who has a fax sent it on Tuesday morning. Two hours later, I got a call from Kelly's and asked me to the interview at 3:30p.m. that day. So, I got dressed and went there. I was 45 minutes early because of the bus. I have to take two buses and a commuter train to get there. They were impressed with me. Two days later, they called me to tell me I got the job. I needed to go to a Kelly's branch to register and to test my skills. So on Thursday I did all the paperwork and skill testing. I passed everything. Then, I had to go take a mandatory drug test.
This Monday, was my first day of training. I will be training for four weeks from 7 am to 3:30 P.M. Monday through Fridays, then after training I will be coming in at 9:30 A.M and getting out at 6 p.m.
The pay will be $9.00 an hour. I will be doing outbound calls, but I am not selling. I will be calling new applicants to verify information. So know I've been training to work for AMEX. Some of the stuff is confusing and there is so much to learn. Right now, all I am learning is from books and lectures. I learn more when I am actually doing the things like processing appplications. I really can't say much because AMEx is very strict on privacy and security. The facility where I will be working is nice. It was easy for me to find it because I pass through it a lot. So I didn't need any directions nor anything. Its four stories and they have a breakroom in each floor. They have a cafeteria with full food service. Its not free, but most things are not very expensive. The seats are almost like a restaurant and there is a view of a duck pond full of geese. I will let you know how I am doing on this job.
