It means something a bit different in Australia.. since October 2020, Doughnut Day meant a day free of covid cases... Two reasons.. the shape (a zero), and one day in October a supermarket sold out of all their doughnuts and for some reason it became a symbol of hope during a really difficult time when everyone was in lockdown.
Because so many doughnut franchises are multinational companies, those companies seem to be bringing the US meaning here, but we don't hear a lot about it.
