...so why do I feel bad every time I have to move my cats in the middle of the night? Last night, for example, I woke up extremely uncomfortable at about 4 in the morning. I tried to roll onto my other side, but that's when I saw what had been making me so uncomfortable: my cats have decided to lock me into one sleeping position at night. My 3 month old kitten, Tails, sleeps right by my stomach/chest, pressed right against me. He's been doing that for a while and it's always adorable. Well, now my 12 lb lanky cat, Memphis, has decided the back of the bend in my knees is perfect for him to curl up in, so he was pressed up against the back of my legs.
I had to pick up Memphis, waking him up in the process, and put him next to Tails so I could roll over and relieve the now-intense cramps forming from lack of movement. I felt bad about waking Memphis up (he didn't seem to mind, he went right back to sleep) but also, I feel he deserved it somewhat because I noticed the position I was in when I woke up. Somehow, Memphis waited for me to be in the most awkward position possible before he jumped on my bed and locked me in place.
What a stinker.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that my kitten has taken to sleeping completely stretched out, at a full 26" long, and all 26" are pressed against me, so it's a very tight and secure locking mechanism.
Does anyone else's cat(s) try to take over their bed at night, or make sleeping uncomfortable in some other way?
