Is this gingivitis?

Hi

I been examining my cats teeth today he’s 9 years old and I can’t figure out if this looks like gingivitis or not?
I have an appointment with the vet coming up but wanted some opinions so I can brace myself for the costs

I am not a vet but as it doesn't seem to be on the side teeth only the front I dont think its gingivitis, could be an infection caused by a bad tooth. Is he eating ok, scratching his mouth, does it seem to bother him? How soon is the vet's appointment?

the vet appointment is in 2 weeks and he seems to be acting completely normal no drooling or anything

Just keep an eye on it. If you have used the vet for a while, you could send the photo to him and ask his opinion.
