Last night I had a bit of an accident. My kitten is now about 8 weeks old. She's been sleeping in my bed lately because she didn't seem to want to be alone at night. She's also figured out how to get on and off the bed by herself to use her litter-box, and I leave some food and water also in the bathroom for her to use at night.
Well, last night I got up around 3 AM to use the restroom myself. I saw that the kitten was asleep when I got out of bed. Unfortunately, when I went back to bed, I had no night-vision since the light had been on in the bathroom and my pupils hadn't adjusted to the darkness. I didn't really think much about the kitten as I assumed she was asleep. When I went to get back in bed, as soon as I put my first hand on the bed (with the weight of my body), in less than a second I felt fur and heard a loud, "MEEEOWWWWWWWWWWWW!" screamed. I instantly realized that the kitten must have gotten up to see what I was doing and when I put my hand down with my weight, she got smushed!
I quickly turned on the light and went to her saying over and over again, "I'm so sorry Ally... I'm so so sorry."
While I did this I softly pet her and also was trying to ascertain if I had injured her in any way (broken bones, etc.) She seemed ok. The rest of the night went fine, she slept well, when I woke up she seemed totally normal and playful and seemed like that all day. I was really worried she was going to be scared of me or upset at me but all day she seemed ok.
Now, before I tell you the next part, let me tell you that over the last few days, her games have gotten more intense. Hide and seek, tag, etc. Today however, she seemed to play hide and seek along with "run from Lawguy" in the late afternoon/evening. She still is doing it.
I can't tell though if she's just playing, or if I've made her scared of me from that accident last night and I'm fairly worried.
She's hiding under the bed, but when I get her toys, she plays with them. She loves playing with me when I have a teaser on a string. When she was in her bed downstairs earlier she was playing with my fingers (with her paws) while she laid on her back. However, tonight with the run and hide, she just doesn't seem to want me to catch her.
How bad did I mess up here guys?
ETA: I bought some night-lights at Walmart to make sure this doesn't happen again.
