Hello, I will be introducing a new kitty to my current cat in a few weeks. The kitty is at my family's house in a different city. They took the cat, which was a stray, to the vet to get him healthy/ neutered before introducing him to my cat. We just found out that he has roundworms today. I am planning on bringing him home Christmas week (about 2 weeks from now).
Will he still be contagious?
If I separate him from my cat and keep him in another room, will that be enough to keep the worms from spreading? (They will only be separated by a door.)
How should I clean his bedding, toys etc, to kill the eggs?
Will I have to take extra precautions when interacting with new cat and then old cat?
How long should I keep them separate? I was planning on doing the whole scent swapping thing with a towel or something. When will it be safe to do this?
Finally, should I take my current cat to the vet before the new cat comes? She seems healthy. But I don't know if I should get her checked out just in case?
Thanks for taking the time to read!! I know that I have a lot of questions.
