Hello everyone,
I am looking to adopt a 1 year old cat, I already have a 6 year old cat. I also live in an apartment with 2 stories, I was wondering what the best way to introduce the new cat would be?

Thanks!!

And be patient. This is the key. The techniques in the article are EXCELLENT, but you have to remember that you can only go as fast as the most reluctant cat. Trying to rush things will do far more harm than good. The fact that one is a kitten may be a help, here, as kittens don't generally appear as threatening to a grown cat, but that isn't always the case.

If you can, the best thing is to confine the new cat to one room with their food, water, litter box and toys, when you first bring him/her home, and proceed to do slow introductions. In addition to the article link Furballsmom Furballsmom posted, below are a few more.

Good luck. Let us know when you bring the new cat home.
