Okay, so when Abby goes over to the area where I store da Bird and whines, I understand this to mean "I want to chase the bird thing". But when she goes over to my hallway and whines, loudly, she means "???". Any ideas?
The "I want to go to bed" whine cracks me up every time. If we're late to going to sleep, Sinbad comes trotting up to wherever we are and starts whining and trying to herd us to the bedroom. You'll need to know context. What does she do once you follow her to the hall? Does she seem to want to go to bed? Does she want to play?
You mean perplexing, inexplicable, mysterious and strange? Yeah, that's true.Sounds all very cat like to me
This is a good point! That's what our cats do when they see spiders, mosquitoes, and other bugs on the walls and ceilings.
Is there a spider on the ceiling?
Well, this happens nearly every night and I'm arachnophobic, so I probably have better radar for spiders than she does. Believe me whenever I see something move I check it out, shoe in hand, and there's no spiders in the hallway. She was just doing it now, but I had left a grocery bag full of groceries there, so I know she was crying because she couldn't play with it. Empty paper bags seem to be one of her favorite things to play with. But most times, no explanation. Other than "cat", I guess.

I've only had Abby for a month, but I had Bailey for seven years. She never did this, though I will say as someone with an irrational fear of spiders, I was extremely happy when I discovered Bailey was a very good hunter, and would catch and eat any that dared come into my place. She wasn't quite as good at getting moths, but she tried. I'm hoping Abby has these same skills, but since the only way to find out is if there is a spider in my place, I don't want to find out any time soon. You're just new to catdom.[emoji]128513[/emoji] as for the spider Handsome Kitty? I think if there was one the cat would either ignore it or?? Eat it[emoji]128512[/emoji]
I think you have your answer!! She is whining for the feet toys!!!Well that's what makes it puzzling. There is nothing down the hallway, other than my shoes near the door, but she's usually somewhere in the middle, not near the door at all so I don't think she wants to go out (something I don't let her do anyway). She's not by the bedroom door either. I've only just started letting her sleep in my room with me (a work in progress - yawn) so I doubt that it means this energetic little bundle wants to go to bed, I go check it out and she just looks at me and cries. Then walks away, goes to eat something or finds a toy and starts batting it around. Just a whim I guess. Speaking of letting her sleep with me, getting into bed is the only time she attacks my feet, and then she will jump up on the bed, start spinning around crazily, chasing her tail, which she eventually starts biting, then grooming. She never does this anywhere else that I have seen. Mysterious creature.
That could be it! Oh, great.I think you have your answer!! She is whining for the feet toys!!!
