So in our apartment complex, my boyfriend and I have discovered either an abused stray or a feral cat. She's out an about often in the neighborhood, so yesterday, I sent him down to give her some wet food. He was able to pet her, but when he came back up, he informed me she had what looks like a gash on her face, so I ran down to find her, and after hesitation, she came to me. I was unable to get a closer look, because some kids (that are kind of nasty to the cats in area) scared her off. I called animal services and they informed me I'd have to trap her ourselves. We were unable to, so I called animal services again. Again they told me it was our responsibility to trap her, even if she was injured because I wasn't sure if it was fresh. Eventually someone came out, but he looked at the cat, and said nothing was wrong (even though she has visible injuries) and left. Because of this, I started calling local cat rescues in my area, and one got me in touch with a trapper. The trapper is going to see if she's able to trap the cat, so we can get her to a vet. Like I said, I couldn't see the extent of the injuries, but I feel like she needs a vet and lots of love. I just don't know where to take her. I can't afford to take her to the vet, because I'm taking my own kitten next week, but I'm scared to take her to the shelter, because everyone keeps telling me they'll put her down. I can tell she's very sweet, just very scared, and I don't know what to do to help her best. Any ideas?
