Hi. I am a foster for my local rescue (about 3 years, one year off, and now I'm back at it). This is my first pregnant mama, and I'm unsure how soon she'll deliver.

Millie came in with a large injury on her neck that had abcessed and is now a sore covering her throat. With antibiotics and regulat cleaning, the injury is slowly healing, but I'm concerned that it stressed her body.

I was told that the vet said that she would probably deliver in 1-2 weeks, and her belly is huge! It looks like it doubled in size just overnight. So my questions are:

1: What are the signs I can look for to determine how soon Millie will deliver?

and

2: Do you think the work of caring for kittens slow her body's healing?

Is she a freshly dumped family girl, or is she a long time homeless? Perhaps even a true semiferal?

What Im thinking on, if she managed alone outside for very long, her immune system and healing meat is above average... Which sounds promising if she has both a bad wound and kittens...

The weak ones persish quickly when becomeing helpless homeless. Its just them with sturdy systems whom have a chance to live on.
