I mentioned on my first introduction post that I had recently dealt with a pretty nasty cat bite (my cat). It became infected - septic arthritis - and I had a surgery to clean it out and was in hospital for 4 days.

When I got bit I read the horror stories on google. But I figured those were the EXTREME cases. I did seek care within 24 hours. It was about 15 hours after the bite if I remember correctly. But even though I was on antibiotics, because of the swelling and because the joint capsule closes quick - they did not reach and infection festered.

I posted the bites - and then how my finger looks almost two months later.

Wow, yea I have heard about cat bites developing nasty infections. I used to watch an emergency vet show on Animal Planet. I won't go into the details but a ladies cat was badly hurt and she was bitten on the hand multiple times while trying to help her cat. She took her cat to this emergency vet clinic. They took her cat, told her they would take care of her cat and for her to go to the emergency room. She still took a long time to heal and had to have some surgery done. She had some permanent stiffness left in some of her fingers but she was still able to play the piano. They told her if she had waited that she could have lost her hand.

Are you still on antibiotics? Your finger still looks infected to me, or is the swelling and redness from your surgery?

I am not sure why its still swollen and red. I think a lot of the redness is the fact that I have a great amount of scar tissue building up? Its not infected though - I saw Infectious Disease two weeks ago (2nd time since release from hospital) and they took blood to test and they never called me.

Dang. So I guess my stiffness is going to be forever too. I hate it. I wish they would just amputate it some days

Surgery was March 27th.

I donated a kidney a year ago - and those scars were great nothing wrong.
I have been in more pain and had more issues with this finger.
