It's horrible to think about, but one of my worst fears is my house catching on fire when I'm not home and my cats being killed.

I've got stickers on the door letting fireman know how many cats and what section of the house their in but is that enough?

Im thinking of getting an outdoor storage container and putting several cat carriers in it so that in the event of a fire the cats can be quickly contained by emergency personnel and moved to safety.. what do y'all think, overkill? I'd also feel very frustrated if someone read the sign and stole the carriers after spending a nice chunk of change on them.

I worried about this too, so I got a burglar and fire alarm that is monitored. I had the alarm company add notes for the fire department about where our cat hides. Having the monitored alarm also saved $$ on our homeowners policy.

That's a good idea. I didn't think about notifying the alarm company.
