Kendra came home from camp with a couple sores on her face, which she said she thought were from rubbing the blanket on her face. I put cream on them (polysporin) because it looked just like rugburn.
Shortly after she got home from camp, she went for her week with her dad... whom we let know that if the sores didn't get any better he needs to talk her to a walk in clinic.
While she was at her dads, the original sores got better, but she got MORE spots on her face, and HUGE sores in her armpits. They didn't bother taking her in because the original ones got better. She said the ones in her armpits and on her chin hurt, and stopped her from sleeping the one night she was with them
She got home from her dads on Thurs. night, and he said nothing about the armpits to me on the phone.... Me and Kay got home on Friday morning, which is when I saw the armpits and freaked
Took them both to the clinic today, (Kayleigh developed one spot on her face on Thurs.) and got the diagnoses.
I am so MAD at Ken's dad.....so
The spots in her armpits are HUGE. She shoulda been seen when she got those spots, even prior when she complained they hurt.
I'm fuming, and thus, venting.
Another reason I'm angry, this is HIGHLY contagious.... if Ken had seen the doc earlier, we would have known what it was, and I would not have let either of them play with others. Last night Kay went to play with some friends... plus when with her dad, Ken was with her brothers and sister from him, and other kids. UGGGGGGGGGG.
I bit my tongue so hard, and just emailed him letting him know the diagnoses and that he should tell the mom of his other kids to watch them for it as well. That was all I said, tho my thoughts were much more
The only question I have is: has anyone experienced this in OLDER children? I've heard of it in children under the age of 6....but not in my kids age (Kendra is 13, Kay is 9).
They are both on antibiotics, and I've done some reading up on it.... I'll be washing their bedding and talking to them bout not sharing towels, etc.
Any tips on dealing with this would be great.
Thanks for listening to my vent, and any tips. Get well would be appreciated for my kids, and that me or my DH do not get it either would be appreciated.
