It's always a struggle to maintain proper weights in a large household, particularly when you have cats that are little piglets. Last night I brought my 2 largest members of the house to the vets for their annual exam.
Drum roll please.....
Pinky, who was 16 pounds 2 years ago and 15 pounds last year, is a svelt 14 pounds right now. That's pretty ideal for his frame, as he is a big boy to start with. We joke that he has dog paws and he towers above the other cats in the house.
Spanky, who was 16 pounds last year, is down to 14-1/2 pounds. Spanky is only 2 years old and the vet was worried about him last year. He was getting so large he had rolls of fat on his thighs which are gone now. He could still lose another pound, but I'm all for slow and steady weight loss.
So the vet asks me what I did to help them lose weight. I started mixing light food into their dry (which I free feed), got more cat trees for them to climb on, and get them to run around and play more.
I'm proud of my big boys!! WOOHOO!!!!
Just had to brag a bit.......
