My sister in law told me that consistently feeding the same food can cause IBD. Is this really a thing, or does it depend on what the food is? I've been making Dr. Pierson's recipe and haven't varied it much. We tried substituting other meats for some of the chicken but our cats didn't eat it so I went back to what they like.

I don't know about full blown IBD but I do believe that it can cause an allergic sensitivity. My cat that had IBD couldn't tolerate beef and I didn't want to feed him a lot of fish. I fed him mostly chicken for a number of years and he developed an allergy to chicken. He was on a steroid to control his IBD so he didn't flare. The first system was itchy dirty ears which was a yeast infection.

Thanks! I guess I'll figure out how to vary their diet so they don't develop an allergy.
