Everytime I look at the last 3 of my 6 babies, I think about that! Today, I was out enjoying the cool fall weather and I spent a lot of time loving on Percy and Momma and just being thankful that I brought them into my life when I did! They have been such a joy to me. I wouldn't trade them for the world.
Percy was actually scheduled to be PTS *that night* had I not returned for him. The staff thought he was "unfriendly" because he was very shy and would run to the back of the cage when people came around. At first, I was just planning to take Momma Kitty (because I thought Momma's had a harder time finding a home than babies), but then I just couldn't leave the baby behind. As I was walking out the door with Percy that night (who was too young to go to be "fixed" like his momma), one of the shelter workers caught me and said, "I am so glad you are taking that baby...this was his last day."
Here is my baby Percy when he came home that night - weighing 1 pound:
And here is my not so little baby Percy today at just over 4 months old. And "shy" is not how I would describe him today...he is my buddy!
Then...my Momma kitty.
She is the most loving momma cat to Percy and she is such a great outdoor kitty. She is one of most affectionate people cats I have ever met and most of the time, she even comes when called.
Momma - skinny (6 pounds) and tired - the day she came home:
And today...plump, healthy, and doing her favorite thing...rollin' in the dirt!
And then, there is my baby Juno. I am not sure how long she had left. She had been at the shelter for awhile and she was one of a SLEW of black cats...many of them kittens even younger than she was. I chose her because when I picked her up, she instantly started purring. When she wasn't being held by someone, she went to sleep in her cage. She was so laid back...even at the shelter.
Here is Juno today:
Thanks for looking at my babies!
