Sorry, this is so long, I dont know if anyone cares or is even going to read all of this
but I just wanted to share some of my moving adventures.
So, my dad got to my house Saturday night. I went and met him on the highway so I could lead him through the orchard fields, which cuts about 45minutes off the trip. Which I am sure he appreciated, because he drove 1800 miles in 1 ½ days.
Anyways, the next day after we finally found and rented a trailer, we couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t get it up the driveway because it was at such a slant that when the trailer would angle upward, it would engage the brake and the wheels would lock! So my dad, with his brand new V8 5.3 liter truck, “scooted†it most of the way up the driveway. Then we unhooked it and pushed it the rest of the way up.
I was so stressed out, I cried while they were loading some of my stuff, especially my treadmill and artwork(which all, at the current time-appear to be in good shape). I have wanted and needed a really good gym quality one for a while, and finally got one in march. It is still not paid off. But they were scooting it and banging it and was having a nervous breakdown, which my dad thought was hilarious. I still have not plugged it in, because I am afraid it will not turn on. $1500 down the drain.
The cats did really good! Okay, not good, but excellent. Not one accident, the whole trip!!!
We stopped at a Days Inn and rested that night, even though we had only drove for about 8 hours.
There was a momma cat there, with 3 babies(maybe two months old) and she was pregnant again. They were for the most part, very nice, and sociable. As soon as I got out of the car they ran across the street. I got my cat food out of the trunk and gave them two giant scoop fulls. They gobbled it down. I felt so bad. I tried getting a hold of Animal Control and couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t. I went through a phonebook calling all numbers that I thought they could help, and no one. I would have loved to take them and do more for them. I felt so bad.
We realize that none of the lights on the trailer are working the next morning, it turns out that a wire was hanging down and hitting the road while we were driving the day before. So we found a U-Haul place and they spliced it back together! No problem!!
We were on our way! After about 3 Starbucks double shot espressos(can), 4 red bulls, a Coke, and 18 more hours of driving. We pulled over at a rest area and slept for about 5 hours then got up and drove the rest of the way.
Sometime on the second day of driving, we stopped at a rest stop to fill up with gas and get something to eat. I got a chicken sandwich. Lets just say, we are in the middle of the NOWHERE, it is storming, pouring rain, and I start to get sick. So, so sick. I was crying, I was in incredible pain. So I got on the walkie-talkie with my dad and told him, I am sick, first place we get to stop… ten miles, nothing! So I was bawling now… I told him, I have to go now, and he told me to go on….
Let me just tell you, I had no idea I had such good driving skills. I was doing well over 90MPH through the mountains in the Rain!!! When I finally came upon a city, about 10 miles later, I was really far ahead and our connection was bad. So I ran into the gas station, walkie-talking in hand, running to the bathroom… screaming EXIT 121, CHEVRON! Over and over because he couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t understand me.
It was funny afterwards.
I also learned on my trip...
-that old fashioned gas stations still exist(you kow the ones that when you take the gas handle out you have to raise the lever...) it took me like 10 minutes to figure out why the damn thing wouldnt pump gas!!
-that 3rd gear is a marvelous tool for getting a little 2.2L/4cyl up any hill!
-that 117* is just too damn hott!!!
-that rest area bathrooms in the middle of no where are cleaner than gas/truck stop restrooms
-that you cannot sleep comfortably in a car, that is shared with two cats, and is packed FULL!
-you meet lots of 'funny' people on walkie-talkie channels.
-most farts sound the same over a walkie-talkie
-it is hard to fart into a walkie-talking while driving
(dont ask- blame my father)
Needless to say, I am extremley happy to be home. Me and my mom bounced towards each other and cried. I am sure the neighbors were looking out their windows wondering what the hell we were doing.
My brother has changed so much too. I got so excited when I saw him. I screamed and then tackled him. (i think i scared his girlfriend
)
I called hubby's parents to let them know that I am here and okay. They want me to come see them. I dont know if I want to though. I dont want them to try to talk me back into anything!
The animals are doing sooooo great!!!
We now have 4 cats in the house(my two-Sara, Chloe, and theirs- TBear, and Jake) and 2 Jackrussel Terreirs.
Sara is scared silly of the dogs, she has never been around dogs though. Chloe is trying to be friends with all the animals. She is just tooo sweet. Jake hisses constantly at my two cats. The dogs are ready for everyone to join in and play. We havent introduced T-Bear yet, she is very mean and anti-social. She rarely comes out of her room, and no animals are allowed in there. She likes it like that. So it will take longer to get them used to her than it will the rest. But we are taking it slow and letting them roam the house and check everything out.
Okay, I am shutting up...
maybe i should have written this in installments
