I'm trying a new method to get some old timer kitties out the door - I'm keeping up with the cool kids! I've got an ad campaign running on Facebook - the title is "Adopt Daphne today", it has her picture, and a small blurb that says something along the lines of "Cats like Daphne are available for adoption from the shelter at this address, come on down".
It will only go to people with their location as one of the cities I specified (there was about 132,000 people registered with Facebook in those cities), and I pay 5 cents any time someone actually clicks on the link that goes to our Petfinder page, and pay a maximum of $5 per day. I figure if that many people actually click on the link to specifically look at our kitties, it's worth the $5/day
I'll be very interested to see if it's successful, or if nobody actually bothers to click on the link. If I only get 5 clicks a day, that's 5 more people that didn't look at it otherwise, and only costs me 25 cents, and I can keep the campaign running for longer!
