Hello! We got a new kitty to add to our family and when he seemed ready to explore I did a site swap with him and my resident cat (5 years old) and now my resident cat is refusing to leave the “Basecamp” and is hissing at me. Please help! I’m scared and I feel like I screwed up and I don’t know what to do.

Hi and welcome to TCS. You may have just tried to site swap too early - don't know how long you have had the new cat. Anyway, wait him/her out. S/he will leave eventually. If there is food/water, you might want to remove them for now. If your resident cat is used to having free access to that room, it could be part of the problem.

Then, start over and set up a plan for proper introductions.
