I think it's an antique. I will be learning to begin with and making wall hangings and if and when I get good enough I can make fabric for garments. I have a long way to go.Originally Posted by lnbandcats
How cool is that.It looks like a really professional model - will you be knitting items to sell or for gifts?
I am learning- in a class now- my first attempts without my teacher guiding me were hysterically bad. all I could do was laugh, really.Originally Posted by snosrap5

That's why I don't tell too many people I have a loom. I feel old enough already.Originally Posted by StacyD1987
Goodness, I had to look at your picture just to remember what a loom was!
You don't see those nowadays. I've only seen one once at a museum.
hahahahahahah I have done things like that. it's called adventure sewing !!!Originally Posted by snosrap5

oh my heavens no, it's not a glimakra. no way could I afford one of those. this is made by H.M. Stuart ( it's stamped on the castle) and I think it's pretty old but works perfectly- isn't too noisy and fits in the space. only has a 24 inch weaving width but that will do.Originally Posted by jean-ji
Abigail, is that a Glimakra? It looks beautiful. Tell us some more.
I fear it's going to be an expensive one. i got the loom and all the accessories from a woman who is no longer physically able to loom for --- $200. I am still amazed at the deal. but my husband fears I will more than make up for it by buying a new stash of yarns. i already hoard fabric for sewing.Originally Posted by Worriedmommy
Wow! What a wonderful hobby.
