As you know my friend and I went to the shelter in March and adopted a sweet Tortie he named Turtle. She was very sick and puny and he has literally "loved" her back to health. She is now a happy, bouncing and pouncing, adorable cat. My friend has a roommate, who has an older cat, Jamie. Now Turtle and Jamie get along (I think). They use the same litterbox and eat from the same bowl, even though they each have their own. Sometimes Turtle plays with Jamie a little too much and Jamie swats at her when she has had enough. But they don't fight. I think they are just working things out between themselves. You know, they're communicating.
THE PROBLEM IS THE ROOMMATE.
I just found out an hour ago that she has been SMACKING TURTLE when she thinks Turtle is bothering Jamie. Now, she says it's a little pat on the butt, but
I AM CRAZY WITH ANGER RIGHT NOW!!!
There is NO REASON in this world that I can justify smacking a cat. I mean "a little pat on the butt" is a lot different to us than to a little baby that has had such a rough start in life.
I have explained to her several "alternate" ways to stop undesirable behavior i.e. water bottle, a loud noise etc. But she has accused me of being a "nut"-bla bla bla....
As for my friend...I told him to "lay down the law" to his room mate. She doesn't need to be "disciplining" his cat! It's a lot easier to get another room mate than it is to get a sweet little kitty like Turtle!!
Ok, I needed to get this off my chest. I don't think I will go over there tonight and "smack" his room mate around BUT things better change or there will be HELL to pay.
You know, I have a red head's temper. When I found out about this at work, I was standing in a private dining room we have off of our larger main dining room. I became so furious I threw a chair across the room.
All my co workers ran for cover.
