I'm surprised nobody else has made a thread for it yet.

Looking scary! I hope all our members on the Gulf Coast are staying safe!

Hoping everyone and their pets will be safe. I have friends who live on the coast where it is supposed to make landfall. Signals are already being affected. Evacuation traffic coming through here has been heavy. Prayers, good wishes and hope for all on the road or staying behind.

I am so glad to see this thread! I think Florence left the entire country exhausted. I am praying that Michael eases up....I have a handyman whose livelihood was ruined in Katrina & FEMA was no help. The impacts of these storms is so sad, especially on the poor and the homeless, both during the storm and after. I am praying for all of them

This one isn't weakening as fast as others do when they go on land. They have hurricane warnings all the way up to Macon Georgia. At least it isn't moving real slow like Florence so it won't dump all the rain that Florence did.

Currently down to a category 1 and over Georgia; it looks like it did its worst to the Florida panhandle (according to the report I just watched on MSNBC). They say that by the time it gets to N. Carolina, near @Mamanyt1953, it should be down to 40 MPH winds. However the "worst" that it did in Florida was extremely bad; they're saying that there are over 1000 people awaiting rescue, in the cold, wet night. The governor says this is the worst hurricane Florida has ever experienced. It blew a huge, long freight train right off the tracks! :runaround::fear:

It makes me glad that I live in Colorado, where "all" we have to worry about are drought, wild fires, and a potential eruption of the Yellowstone mega-volcano.

Please, everyone in Florida, check in here as soon as you know you're safe and have the ability to get online again.

Just got a FB pm from my horrid ex who lives in Panama City. He says is VERY bad, his house is almost destroyed and he can't reach his elderly parents. I despise the man, but I would NEVER wish this on him.

Oh no. :( It seemed to me like this one almost creeped up on us. Maybe I was just more distracted than usual; but I saw it as a category 1 and thought; ok, not great because a hurricane is a hurricane, but we can deal with that. Then they said expect a 3 (and it made 4!). I read it's the 3rd most intense hurricane to hit the US. More intense than Katrina. :(:(:(

The strongest was actually Camille in 1969. That one was also in the Gulf. I remember it went through Tennessee and Kentucky then East to Virginia. It caused a lot of flooding with fatalities in Virginia before it left. What made Katrina such a killer was the levees not holding.

It's raining here in central NC. We expect 4 inches of rain and 40+ mile an hour winds. But its moving fast and should be out of here by evening.
