I have not been here in quite some time. My 2 cats are Shenandoah and Humble. Humble and Shenandoah would be 14 on April 11. Last weekend, I noticed Humble not eating and being lethargic. On Sunday he could not walk without stumbling. I took him to my vet.
Bloodwork and tests showed anemia, and a large mass in his abdomen. Radiograph showed the same. Surgery was performed on Tuesday. A mass the size of a baseball was in his abdomen....adenocarcinoma....grim prognosis. This has been a horrible week. A rollercoaster...The vet thought some of the problems may be due to his needing to recover from surgery. Humble was not in pain...they kept him sedated. He never ate. He purred some. I saw him for the last time this morning. I went to visit, told him I loved him, and held him.
More bloodwork determined a low blood count, he is anemic, and the cancer had spread to the bone. The vet said there was little hope. I had him euthanized. It was the kindest thing to do.
Much loved, sadly missed, and I have Shenandoah to comfort me.
