Have you considered a top-entry box? It's not fool proof but it has helped us a bit. Also, try putting a folded fluffy towel right in front of the entry point, over the mat.

I didn't want a top entry box because it would be hard for me to scoop multiple times a day. It seems like he's going to take over the entire house at this rate lol! He's already got every square footage of the washrooms, our towels are next!

IMHO you shouldn't have to vacuum so much.  Keep little dustpan-and-brush sets, available at many "dollar stores", hardware stores, home stores, etc. for very reasonable prices, right by the litterbox and you can easily sweep up spills.  This works on wood, tile, laminate and even carpet.  And if you get the cat-specific rubber mats, you can easily shake those out right back into the litter boxes.  High-sided boxes are really great for keeping "spills" down, but IDK that it keeps tracking down much.
