Hi everyone
Greatly enthused by this vast knowledge base I thought I‘d get your ideas on your definition of this coat pattern..
This was a little kitty my partner met and fell in love with (and vice versa) in Thailand whilst on his solo cycling trip through Asia in March. I‘ve never encountered quite this colouring before.
We live in Germany and he was totally conflicted as to what to do. In fact he paused his trip by a couple of weeks to get her veterinary assistance and ensure ongoing care. After much consideration, soul searching and even more luck he managed to find an amazing home for her there while he was there. He has remained - (and will remain ) her sponsor ever since.. and gets regular updates. So how would you describe her?
Smokey tabby?

Stunningly beautiful! I'm so glad she is getting wonderful care. Your partner is so kind to look after her like this.

I would say it looks like the smoke gene on top of a spotted tabby, but I almost see reds/tans in there? I wonder what the base color is.

Hi
Thanks so much for getting back to me 🤗
You‘re very observant - she does have some red tones in there which we actually commented on when my partner first got to know her. (See the picture)
One way or the other I always found her colouring to be very unusual - all the undercoat is white and the dark grey/black definitely has some superficial brownish/reddish inflexions in certain areas.(see picture below)
Although I have actually never met this little kitty in real life, it was clear that not only was she exceptionally pretty, but she really has the sweetest personality. When my partner met her she was in pretty bad shape in a very remote area (no other cats/people far and wide). I became very emotionally invested in the story too and we even looked in to the possibilies of bringing her to Germany. It would have meant months of upheaval for her (vaccination and quarantine regulations are very strict - if I recall you need a 3 month wait before transport) and a whole new definition of my partner‘s long planned cycling sabbatical.
So we were overjoyed when a very lovely and extremely kind cat oriented lady and her son from the next tiny village said she would look after her and integrate her with her other 2 cats. They’re all doing wonderfully. A win win situation for all.
Despite being very sad at leaving her, it was very clear that it was the best solution for all.

Such a beauty😻 Thanks for saving her. I am not sure, maybe a silver mackerel tabby bicolor, and she also looks snow shoe ish with her paw and face markings in the last pic. I see the rust too, not sure about that. She looks blue in some pics.

Hi Meowmee
Many thanks for your reply 🤗
The snow shoe aspect had also crossed my mind - not only in terms of looks but personality too.
Considering the fact that she was about 4-5 months old when found in the completely isolated location and and what bad physical state she was in, she is incredibly people oriented and sociable to be sure - not your typical skittish feral street cat at all, which either means she had really enjoyed some level of socialisation and had been abandoned or was genetically very socially predisposed.
Her coat seems to be darkening too as she gets older, but maybe it‘s the light the pics are taken in. Or it‘s a seasonal coat colour thing, or the red tones im her coat were initially due to a tyrosine/ phenylalanine deficiency as she was very malnourished.
But whatever her background is, she is very special and has been very lucky. Here is the latest picture we got.
