I've spent the past 25 years in Montreal and soon i will be moving to Quebec City with my DH and 2 young girls.
For the past 6 years i have worked in a hospice in Montreal taking care of cancer patients.
Ok, I'm born and raised in Canada and I've never heard the expression "the Queen City." Why is Regina called that?Originally Posted by TigerOnTheProwl
There's a few of us around here. I'm from the Queen City.
It's called The Queen City because Regina is Latin for queen. If you look closely, the official Royal Insignia is made up of the following letters: REII, Regina Elizabeth the Second.Originally Posted by Natalie_ca

This is just an honest question. I have been to Quebec, Quebec several times. I have a huge globe right behind me. It is up to date. I also have a national graphic map on one wall. Neither shows a place called Quebec City. These same maps do not show any such place as New York City or Mexico City, etc., etc. Has anybody ever heard of the New York City Yankees? Of course not. Can you find New York City on any map? The answer is no. I do understand that people do this to avoid confusion but I was severely corrected once when I was in the city of Quebec that there was no Quebec City. Geeeez, I thought the guy was going to pound me.Originally Posted by cherryblast41

I am very aware of how different the two cities are. Quebec is one of the last walled cities in north America. My knowledge of Spanish is of no help there! The last time I was in Montreal, I saw Arcade Fire, winner of the Grammy for being the best band in the world. I agree. Suburbs is the best album ever made since Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Having females and males in the group with unusual musical instruments is more than awesome.Originally Posted by cherryblast41

Seriously some people are sooo uptight about Quebec and keeping the french language alive and those pesky english/american etc etc out!!
Quebec City is about 250 from Montreal and much different then from Montreal.
When my parents left Ohio ended up in Quebec City so i was raised there.....till i was 16, now back to Quebec City with my own family in tow. In Montreal your knowledge of Spanish would come in handy these days!Originally Posted by Persi & Alley
