My wife and I are new parents of three kittens. The mom has lived with us for 3 years. We got her when she was 2 and had previous litters. She was neglected and not treated as part of a family. It took her a while to get used to "family" and she has responded very well. She has become a daddy's girl as well as her little ones. We could not be happier for keeping them all.
My purpose in writing is about the food issue. My cat was getting table scraps and cheap filler cat food where she lived before. My wife and I decided we would try to get her family friendly and healthy, (very underweight). We switched her to Blue Wilderness Duck and in 3 weeks, her coat, personality and hygeine all changed for the better. Her littles ones have eaten wilderness since they started solid food and thrive on it.
As far as I'm concerned, the diet is the most important thing for cats. Once in awhile, the girls split a can of light tuna in water for a treat.
