I fold #1 with my older towels that are smaller. My newer towels are larger and longer so I fold #2 so they take up approximately the same space as the #1 folded towels.

When I had a linen cabinet I preferred 1 because it's flatter so they're less likely to fall over. But now I have to keep them in a basket so I do 2 to make them fit.

I do #1 for my kitchen towels. The laundry service uses #2.. When I had a linen closet, I did #3
because it took up less space. I had a ton of towels.

2. Nothing else would fit in our little linen closet. Rolling looks like too much effort.

Since I just happen to be folding laundry right now...

Reminds me of the one in my previous home. One of only two closets in the house it was than 18 inches wide and only 9 inches deep. It was more stuffing than folding to store anything in it.

Reminds me of my linen closet at my former house. Only 18 inches wide and 9 Inches deep. It was more stuffing than folding to get anything in there.
I think that’s how wide I measured it. At least it’s deep! But its a little awkward getting in because there’s a door right behind it. King size sheets hang off the shelves. So I just leave it open. Its a heck of a lot better than not having a linen closet at all like at our old house. There is a fabulous linen closet in the other bathroom though. No one showers in there so the closet doubles as a pantry. 🤪
