Homeless After Hurricane: What To Do With My 3 Cats?

It's been a while since I was on here.

A little over 3 weeks ago, a major category 5 hurricane (Michael) came and destroyed my property, leaving me homeless.

I have 3 cats that are 12 years old, 12 years old, and 10 years old. I leave for MA next month and they cannot go.


Suggestions please?

What have you been doing since then? Why can't they go to MA?

Even if you can't keep them, I'd recommend taking them to MA anyway. The animal welfare situation is MUCH better in the Northeast than in other parts of the US and they'd have a better chance there.

They're purebreds, right? I think you could find a breed rescue.

Just a thought, and I know it might sound like a, "yeah right" thing but maybe you could call FEMA and ask them. It is supposed to be part of their job to fix things.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Are you looking for new permanent homes or do you want someone to foster the cats until you get yourself back on your feet?
