First the bad news, he isn't round enough or have a long enough coat for Himalayan (which is actually from crossing a Siamese and Persian). On the other hand he also isn't long and angular enough to be a Siamese.

What you have is a very lovely example of a pointed domestic short hair cat. Simply put he has the gene giving him the pointed coloration and has short hair (probably arguably medium hair).

That said, his coat is relatively even in coloration and eyes appear to be a nice shade of blue. So I wouldn't be surprised if he had something pure or close to purebred in the last few generations. If I had to hazard a guess it would be a Himalayan grandparent or great grandparent and short hairs added since then. But cat genetics are a marvelous thing and you can sometimes end up with one who looks very similar to a specific breed with no real relation. Unlike dogs they haven't been as shaped by human hands over the years so many are still close to nature.

Thanks for your comments.  No bad news here as the kitty belongs to our neighbour but visits us every day and spends a lot of time at our home just chilling out.  He/she has two very similar looking siblings who NEVER visit, so we have a soft spot for it.  We haven't figured out it's gender yet. We really enjoy its company as we don't have any pets of our own.

The tail is rather bushy, so its defintely a medium hair, not shorthair.
