Okay so my cat gave birth last night to a kitten (this is her second litter) and she still has a belly and it’s hard. Last night after she had her first kitten I had to leave and it’s hard to see kitten movement. Could she have intentionally stopped labour? If so what do I do?

Her first kitten was delivered at 720pm yesterday

Also side note when I’m in the room with her she’ll occasionally lick down there and start meowing

Pauses arent uncommon. If she is ok no visible troubles happy with the already born kitten - you observe but calmly wait and see. If she is in visible distress you comtact vet and be ready to rush her in.

Here she isnt entirely ok some afterwork or even work is going on. So its potentially worrying. Give her calcium rich food and observe closely.

If its still unclear contact your vet...

Also, be sure to keep mom 100% inside and away from intact males until the litter is weaned.

Do you need help finding a low cost spay clinic in your area?

Be careful. Mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, and the male will still be fertile for up to a month after his surgery.
