Hello, I recently rescued a kitten from the shelter, just 2 days go in fact. Brought the kitten home and have him quarantined in a spare bed/bath.There seems to have been some disagreement at the shelter about how old he is but his kennel card says 8 weeks.First vet visit is scheduled for tomorrow.
I rescued another cat from the shelter previously in February, same age issue, the vets estimate was about a year. My resident cat is as predicted hissing and clawing at the door of the newcomer if she hears him, and tonight he managed to get his paw under the door and she pretty much tried to attack it teeth bared and all. Just wondering if this is all normal? Is my cat super aggressive for some reason? Would she kill the kitten? How long until they can actually be in contact? New to all of this cat stuff so I would appreciate any advice all please...

Thanks for the advice :) Only reason I worry is that the female is so aggressive towards other creatures,I know it will take time and they may never be best friends, just don't want the little guy to get hurt. I will be keeping him quarantined still for 5 to 7 days since he has a bit of infection at his incision site; he had to have an eye taken out at the shelter from an eye infection and corneal ulcer.
