Hi,
I have 2 cats that generally get along. 1 8 year old part fixed female Siamese fat lazy 15 lb not a hunter cat loves people, 1 3 year old fixed male, sleek, fast, 8 lb hunter, does not love people.
Used to be the young cat picked on the old fat cat but nothing bad.
Recently the cats have been ripping out the screens and letting themselves out. We have found several small animals that the young one has brought into the house.
Last night I heard the fat lazy cat growling at the young one. My wife investigated and found a young rabbit cowering in the corner of our dining room. She tossed a shirt on the rabbit and carried it outside. Before she could put it down, the fat lazy old cat came running at full speed screaming like a banshee. The cat attacked my wife leaving 17 bleeding wounds on her legs and then somehow cut her face. I came running and pinned the cat down so it would stop attacking my wife. This was a loving non violent cat.
The fat cat has since gone back to normal, accept she attacks the little cat viciously any time she sees him.
WHY???? My wife thinks it's because she took away her toy (the bunny).
Since the cat reacted the way that it did, I think that it must be much more. Maybe the fat lazy female cat had some sort of motherly instinct kick in. It just seems way to extreme for just being mad about losing a toy or dinner.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
