Help for a concerned neighbour? Small spot on nose has spread a lot overnight

Does anyone know what this could be? It started as a small spot yesterday apparently but has now become this.
I have suggested that they visit a vet ASAP, but if anyone has any insight that would be great.

Given that this is moving along very quickly, yes, I think that they need to see a vet as soon as they can. I am not sure from the pic if I think it looks crusty enough to be ringworm, but can't rule it out either. Hopefully someone else will comment, but if it was a small spot yesterday and is now covering more than half of the top of the nose I would get some help.
